Upcoming Events

  • The Diocese of Jackson is celebrating its 175th Anniversary this Sunday, September 16, with a Mass at Thalia Mara Hall at 2:30 p.m. The original Diocese (and the State of Mississippi) was placed under the patronage of Our Lady of Sorrows, whose feast is this Saturday, September 15.
  • This Friday, September 14, marks the fifth anniversary of the motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum, broadening the permissibility of Mass and the other Sacraments in the Usus Antiquior. Nonetheless, Mississippi remains a "Summorum Pontificum-Free Zone." Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.
  • Una Voce Northern Alabama hosted a very successful Latin Mass workshop in Birmingham on July 7, 2012 with Fr. Brian T. Austin, FSSP. Audio from the workshop is available at the link above. Also, Fr. Austin's talk on Pope Benedict XVI's liturgical reform will air on EWTN this Saturday, September 15 at 2:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM CT.
  • EWTN will also be airing St. John Cantius: Restoring the Sacred on Wednesday, September 19, at 3:00 PM ET and 6:30 PM ET.
  • Finally, there are several Latin Mass workshops for priests coming up this Fall. See our clergy resources page for more information.
    • September 17-21 at the FSSP seminary in Denton, Nebraska;
    • October 9-12 at the Archdiocesan seminary in Miami, Florida;
    • October 23-26 at St. John Cantius Church in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Today, of course, we also remember all those who lost their lives in the attacks eleven years ago. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace. Amen.
